VICTIM OR VICTORIOUS

Bad things happen ... to all of us.  I remember listening to a Les Brown program on tape and he said, "The messenger of misery is at someone else's door, at your door, or on his way."  That stuck with me because it helped me to understand that bad things can happen to good people.  For so many years, I felt that was so unfair.  It is unfair, but it's life.

We don't control everything that happens to us and we don't always have control what circumstances we find ourselves in, though most times our circumstances are the results of our past decisions and actions.  What we do control is what  we think about, what we focus on, and what we desire as an outcome.  If you think this is airy-fairy fluff, just think back to a time when you had a voice-mail message on your home or cell phone from someone important in your life and all that was said was, "Call me right away!  Please!!"  Now, after hearing that, almost everybody would think, Oh my goodness.  Something must be terribly wrong.  Let me call and find out what the emergency is.  Yes, it could very well be an emergency, but I've actually had messages like that left and all the person wanted  to know is where I was, or what shirt size I wore.  Important information?  Maybe, for the caller's need.  A life or death emergency?  Absolutely not.

The point I want to drive home is that you shouldn't make matters any worse in your mind thant they need to be.  Don't ignore problems, but don't dwell on them.  Focus on a solution and how you want things to be.  Victims, whether innocent or not, are helpless and have no power.  The victorious have enormous power and take challenges head-on.

RENEWED AND IMPROVED

For those following my blog, thank you for your support and patiience.  I do sincerely apologize for not keeping it up to date.  Yes, the courses I teach online keep me very busy.  Yes, I've had some urgent matters come up, and I have been very busy with a number of other things.  But you know what?  Those excuses don't hold water.

When I was going through the process of becoming a member of the noble fraternity of Kappa Alpha Psi, I clearly remember hearing this when I didn't have something I was supposed to or I wasn't fully prepared:

Excuses are tools of incompetence,
and those that make use of them,
seldom do anything else.

I never forgot that.  So I offer no excuses.  I just want my readers to know that they will see a much better and more frequently updated blog from Michael E.

ALL THE BUZZ ABOUT ONLINE NETWORKING

I'm sure you all have read, heard of, and/or already talked about the online networking craze.  Having a profile on MySpace, Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter is almost as common as having a cell phone.  I am quite sure that more people have updated something on one of these sites more recently than they have updated their resume.  I include myself in this group, though I did update my resume right after I resigned and before I updated my profiles on such sites.

My quick take on the three social network sites -- they aren't the only ones -- mentioned above is that they serve very different purposes.

I see MySpace as a social network that's used for friends to just banter around and have fun communicating and sharing various aspects of their lives.  There is some business being conducted on MySpace, and there are serious contacts being made, but I still think it's more social-based than anything else.

Facebook is really gaining ground in popularity.  A site that was originally designated for college students has branched out and grown to include friends and business associates.  I have read that a number of employers use Facebook to seek out viable candidates for hire.  I think Facebook is the best place to find and get reunited with old friends.  Just like with some of the other sites, you can search for people by entering their email address.  Most people tend to keep their email addresses, even if they start new email accounts.  I believe that you can also search for people by their first and last name on Facebook, which is really nice.  Keep in mind, you will only find someone if they have a Facebook account and they don't have to agree to communicate with you.  This policy is common practice among such sites.  I really like Facebook because I originally joined because a friend wanted me to see a picture of someone who was in her group of friends.  In doing so, I just happened to search for a dear friend of mine who moved out of the area, years ago.  I was shocked that I got a hit.  I sent her a message and she became my friend.  After that, I could see who here friends were, and vice-versa, and I sent invites to some people I knew in her network.  Before long, I discovered that a number of my siblings, and a number of cousins, former coworkers, and friends were on the site.  I see Facebook as more fun talk and personal updates than anything else, and they definitely cater to the younger crowd.

The Linkedin netork is brand new to me.  I actually put my profile together, this past weekend, and although I had heard it mentioned, it wasn't until a university student I had helped when I worked at the campus, sent me an invitation to join.  I though that was very nice of her.  Right now, that young lady is my only connection.  With Linkedin, I'm not quite sure if I should seek out people in the same line of work I'm in or people who work for the same company.  The site does require that you include information about your job, so I'm sure it's designed for career networking than anything esle.  I look forward to learning a lot more about it.

My newest discovery is Twitter.  Just like Linkedin, I heard about Twitter and even went to the site, but I never created an account.  Then, two weeks ago, a former coworker and good friend of mine sent an invitation to my email to join him on Twitter.  I didn't do it right away, but I kept the email because I knew I wanted to find out more.  Well, I finally went to the site and opened up an account, this week, and I absolutely love it.  I find Twitter to the best of all the sites I've listed because you have so much information at your disposal at any time.  Also, Twitter only allows very short messages -- about two to three medium-length sentences -- to be sent at one time.  This can be frustrating when you are writing a message, but it's great when you are reading them because whoever writes them must get right to the point.  If you love reading inspirational quotes, getting quick news headlines, and obtaining quick tips, Twitter is for you.  It should also be added that in your message, you can include URL's, links, and emails to other sites.  So if a reader wants more information, he or she can go there, right at that moment or later on.  Another great thing about Twitter is you have a much more diverse group of members.  On top of that, you get to see and read messages directly from the source, and the sources include companies, agencies, schoools, sports teams, tv programs, authors, speakers, celebrities, and more.  Yes, of course you will have a lot of messages about promotions, items for sale, and messages that try to lure you to another site, but you can easily bypass those.  Plus, you don't have to "follow" another person, even if they are following you.

No matter which online networking site is your favorite, I strongly encourage all of you to take full advantage of them, especially while we can all do so for free.  Like it or not, electronic networking is changing our world, from how we meet others to how we do business.   Stay on top trends and changes ... or be prepared to get changed by them.

EXCITING TIMES

Hello, Everyone.

I hope you are all achieving your dreams.   I certainly am.

In a week or two, it will be two months since I resigned from an associate dean's position at large university.  I haven't stopped working -- I've continued to teach online -- but I have stopped dealing with the rat race.  I don't think I can ever go back.  Modestly speaking, I know I could find another full-time job pretty quickly but being able to do what I truly love, teach, learn, share information, and help people improve their lives, makes all the difference in the world.

Freedom from the rat race doesn't come without a heavy price, though.  I really, really miss the check I used to get when I worked full-time.  I also miss the health care benefits and life insurance policies I got at a huge discount  at the J.O.B.  While reviewing the COBRA information I received to notify me that my health insurance would be cancelled, I saw that to continue the same exact coverage I would need to pay $434.  Outrageous!  Keep in mind, this is health insurance for just me, a single guy with no major health issues.  Those of you who are working and get discounted coverage through your employers, don't take that for granted.  And if you have kids, you really need to be aware of what you're saving.

Another challenge with not being under the direction of a boss is that you are your own boss.  That means you must be responsible for the work you need to do, be it looking for employment, which in itself is a job, or working your own business.

Now, back to the blessings.  My whole outlook on life is different. The way I approach all the tasks and duties that go along with being a university professor is different.  The way I look at, work, and appreciate  my home-based iLearning Global business is different.  Why?  Because I know I can commit the proper amount of time to these things without being hampered by punching a clock.  I know my mornigs won't be filled with dodging idiotic rush hour drivers before going to a place where I don't want to be and doing something I don't want to do for eight, nine or more hours.

My present living situation alows me the flexibility to do what I'm doing, where it wouldn't with most.  I'm also fortunate that I just paid my car off, a few months ago.  I don't take these things for granted.  God has truly blessed me.  I also realize that this is not the end of the road.  I need to build my iLG business, create other strong streams of income, save and earn a lot more money and help a lot more people before I reach my major goals.  I will do it, and I know whatever your major goals are, you will do it, too.

WHAT'S NEW AND IMPROVED?

After being MIA with my blog for nearly four months, I couldn't think of a better title for this entry than the greeting I like to give friends, family, and cool associates, "What's new and improved." Of course I didn't invent the term "new and improved," however, I do believe I'm the originator of putting the different twist on it and making it a question. I created the line so people wouldn't be able to just give a standard and typical answer, like they usually do the the How's it going? or How are you? questions.

I hope a number of things are new and improved with you and yours because a whole lot is new and improved with me. First, I'm feeling more free and relaxed than I have in ages and I'm more positive about my future than I have been in a very long time. Why? Because I took a bold, many may say crazy, step to maintain my peace of mind, as well as my professional dignity. Initially, the step I took was to deal with the immediate need to address a situation that I saw as lose-lose. Yet within two days of making the decision, I discovered that it was the very best thing I could have done. This decision revealed my true passion to me. It also made me take a hard look at what I was trading my life for. I am, and will always be, grateful for the opportunity to be a dean, yet I had to come to the realization that that's not what I think God put me on this earth to do.

Have I built any suspense, yet? Okay, you've waited long enough. The major decsion I made was to resign from the position of Associate Dean that I accepted and described in my last blog entry, in late April of this year. As I stated earlier, it wasn't planned, but it was a decsion that I made on my own and with a few weeks having gone by, I have absolutely no doubt it was the very best decision for me, my professional pursuits, and most of all, my happiness and well-being.

But Michael, what will you do for money? Yeah, that's the other side of the decision that I must take responsibility for. I have been a certified online professor since June and I will be able to continue to teach for the upcoming fall term. Teaching is my true passion and now I get to pursue it, full force. After teaching high school, Adult Ed/ESL and a college course, I couldn't quite determine how much I wanted teaching to be a part of my career. With this new experience of teaching online, I have no doubt that it's what I'm supposed to do.

But wait ... there's still some more exciting news. Being that I can teach my online classes from home. I am now able to work my iLearning Global
www.ILearningGlobal.biz/maximo3 as a true business, giving it the time, commitment, and professional respect it deserves. My belief in iLG has only grown stronger since I joined as a charter member back in November of '08. The thing is, I loved the continuous learning provided so much, I was just devouring it, myself. Now, I can share it with those who see it for what it is, the best and least expensive way to teach yourself what you need to know to be the most successful person you can be. As Jim Rohn said, "A formal education can get you a job. Self-education can get you a fortune." Please don't misunderstand me. I'm extremely proud of my journalism degree and I'm also proud of the MBA I earned. I come from a family of educators that dates back four generations. But I also know the difference between working for a living and living for your work.

Yes, these are very unstable economic times. As true as that may be, opportunities are all around us. Just look in a newspaper, magazine, or on t.v. There are people, groups, and companies that are thriving, right now. And why is that? It's because they are providing a product or service that people want because they have a burning passion for what they do, and because they have an unwavering certainty that they will succeed.

This is one of the most exciting times in my life. I hope that it's the same for you.

WOULD YOU LISTEN TO A BILLIONAIRE?

In appreciation to those who have supported me and many of causes, over the years, I want you to enjoy this free video by Bill Bartman. "Inc." magazine called Bartman the "billionaire nobody knows."

During these tough economic times, having the best information available to us is so important. Knowing what to do with that information is critical. One document or video can't possibly address every question and concern you have, but if you pull just one great idea, thought, or practice from it, it can change your life.

I have no doubt you will get as much out of this video as I did.

ILG TAKES OFF

The Mastermind Marketing company, iLearning Global (ILG) officially launched, earlier this month, and it's created quite a stir. Thousands are signing up to be a part of something that is truly life-changing.

ILG is company that provides knowledge and expertise in the areas of self-development, business strategies, financial awareness, and personal and professional growth. Unlike formal education iLearning allows the member to select his or her specific area of interest and then listen to, watch and listen to, or read what different experts in that field have to say about the selected topic. The topics covered are relevant up to date.

Now more than ever, self-education plays a critical role in how we live our lives because self-education can help us improve ourselves and you can't do until you become. Formal education is important and is a requirement for most professional positions. I am proud of the MBA I earned and it helped me get the job as an Associate Dean. What ILG does for me is it helps me to learn things that aren't taught in the classrooms that fully apply to what I want to do in life. What I've learned from iLearning Global has also helped me with office and classroom jobs.

With iLearning Global, you can become a better person because in listening to the speakers you expand your knowledge, and as someone was quoted saying, "A mind expanded by a new knowledge never shrinks back to former size."

I have been a proud ILG member since last November, so I'm one of the founding members. I can honestly say that it has been a life-changing investment for me.

Please check out my ILG website and view some of the state-of-the-art videos for yourself.

BACK IN ACTION

I was gone for a while and I do apologize for the delay in providing a new post, but I am now back in action.

I have some great news to report. I have a new job! I moved on from my old job working as a Campus Registrar, at a community college, and starting April 27, I will be an Associate Dean for an online division, at a private university. I am thrilled about this because it will give me the opportunity to work on the academic side of post-secondary education. This is something I've been longing to do. Something else this new job will enable me to do is be an online professor. I have over ten years of professional teaching experience, but have yet to teach a course on the Internet.

Let me use my announcement as a reminder to you all that you control your own destiny. Whether you are looking for a new job, a new opportunity, a new relationship, or a new way of life, never forget that we are ultimately a result of our choices. Don't let the doubters and complainers interfere with what you want for yourself. If I had believed all the news reports and all the doom and gloom I heard so many people talk about, I would have been too fearful to even think about applying for another job. But I wanted more and I fervently felt I deserved it. Yes, our tough economic climate is a reality. What is also a reality is that some companies are expanding, some people are retiring, new positions are being created, and, most importantly, somewhere, some person or some agency, company or group is looking for someone just like you.

"Control What's In You"

Dr. John Maxwell is a writer and speaker who is internationally recognized as a leadership expert. Learning and using good leadership qualities can do far more for you than just teach you how lead people. Implementing the right leadership qualities can change your life.

In this piece, Dr. Maxwell explains quite well why it is so important to focus on what you do control. I viewed this article on a great website http://www.cathedralgifts.com/hoofpopr.html that is immensely spiritual, inspirational, and motivational.

Enjoy the article.

Control what's in you February 19, 2009 John C. Maxwell

"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." – Matthew 6:34

Former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden, one of the greatest coaches who ever lived, said, "Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." Wooden was known for stressing excellence to his players and encouraging them to work toward their potential. He never made winning a championship his goal. He focused on the journey, not the destination. Yet his work ethic and focus on the things within his control earned his UCLA teams four undefeated seasons, an eighty-eight-game winning streak, and an incredible ten national championships. No one had ever done that before him, and no one has done it since.

As you move forward on the success journey, you need to remember that what happens in you is more important than what happens to you. You can control your attitudes as you travel on the journey, but you have no control over the actions of others. You can choose what to put on your calendar, but you can't control today's circumstances. Unfortunately, the majority of the fear and stress that people experience in life is from things they can do nothing about. Don't let that happen to you..

* * *
Focus on the things you can do something about today. Forget the rest!

"The Miracle of Personal Development"

Here is a great article by Jim Rohn, an icon in the field of self-development. Jim Rohn is a speaker's speaker and a writer's writer. One of the qualities I admire most about him is his directness. Jim Rohn states very clearly that anyone who expects you to be positive all the time is crazy. Being positive has its place. However, what's far more important is not to stay negative. And your positive energy and ambition must be accompanied with productive action.

In "The Miracle of Personal Development," Jim Rohn shares some critical insights into his success and what you can do to create your own.

The Miracle of Personal Development by Jim Rohn

One day Mr. Shoaff said, "Jim, if you want to be wealthy and happy, learn this lesson well: Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job."

Since that time I've been working on my own personal development. And I must admit that this has been the most challenging assignment of all. This business of personal development lasts a lifetime.

You see, what you become is far more important than what you get. The important question to ask on the job is not, "What am I getting?" Instead, you should ask, "What am I becoming?" Getting and becoming are like Siamese twins: What you become directly influences what you get. Think of it this way: Most of what you have today you have attracted by becoming the person you are today.

I've also found that income rarely exceeds personal development. Sometimes income takes a lucky jump, but unless you learn to handle the responsibilities that come with it, it will usually shrink back to the amount you can handle.

If someone hands you a million dollars, you'd better hurry up and become a millionaire. A very rich man once said, "If you took all the money in the world and divided it equally among everybody, it would soon be back in the same pockets it was before."

It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development
So here's the great axiom of life:

--TO HAVE MORE THAN YOU'VE GOT, BECOME MORE THAN YOU ARE--
This is where you should focus most of your attention. Otherwise, you just might have to contend with the axiom of not changing, which is:

--UNLESS YOU CHANGE HOW YOU ARE, YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE WHAT YOU'VE GOT--

To Your Success,

Jim Rohn

DO WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO

I don't know of many people that I feel honestly love what they do as their full-time job. Now I have known some people, over the years, where that seemed to be the case. But these days, I don't see it as much. Why do you think that's so?

Well, I feel one major reason is because we're not taught to seek out what we love to do. Formal education teaches us, for the most part, to be good employees. It doesn't teach us to pursue having our own business or to be steadfast in finding a job where we get paid doing what we really enjoy. One reason why I love iLearning www.ILearningGlobal.biz/maximo3 so much is because I am learning while I'm earning.

I think back to when I worked for a food store. The store, Giant, is a major food chain, in northern Virginia and elsewhere. To work for Giant, back in the '80, was a really big deal. It was good money, great benefits, and for a young, single guy, like I was then, it was a place that was always filled with pretty ladies. Everyone has to eat, right?

I was a cashier, at Giant, and I loved it. I would usually have 4 to 6-hour shifts and the time always went by quickly. I got to meet all kinds of interesting people, work with some real characters, and learn a lot about working retail, which taught me a lot about human nature. Bottom line, that job was fun.

Do you have fun on your job? Do you wake up excited about what awaits you? Or do you dread what lies ahead? Please don't misunderstand. I'm not trying to say that if everything isn't peaches and cream at your job that you need to get another one. What I am suggesting is that you at least look for something that really captures your interest.

I fully understand the current economic climate and that a lot of people are getting laid off. I feel blessed to have a nice job, especially one that is close to wear I live. However, I feel even more blessed to have a second job, teaching ESL (English as a Second Language), that I've done for the last 10 years and that I never get tired of. For me, if I had no bills, I'd teach ESL for free. One day, I'll be able to do that. Or better yet, I'll open up an ESL school.

You'd be amazed at some of the things people do and get paid for. While a researcher and assistant-editor, at Time-Life, in the early 90's, I worked on section of a book, called "Odd Jobs." It was about people that had some truly bizarre employment. The criteria was it had to be their fullt-time and primary income. I had some wonderful stories.

From a professional mosquito breeder, to a specimen (i.e., spiders, leeches, vampire bats, snake venom) collector. We even had a professional ice-cream taster, who had his taste buds insured, by the way, come to talk to us. Another lady I interviewed, that made the book, had a job to check the tatoos under the lips of horses who were lined up to run in races. This was done to ensure the right horse was the one actually racing, and this was her full-time job. Another guy that made the book was a bull semen collector, but I'll spare you the details of that job.

What I noticed with almost all of these professionals with these so-called "odd jobs," is that they really loved what they did. They loved talking about it. They got great joy out of their work, and they also saw how it benefitted others. For example, my favorite odd-jober was the specimen collector. He was quite a character. A big, burly guy, full of life and always on the go. He told me that the specimens he traveled the world to collect, like scorpions and vampire bats, were used by pharmaceutical companies to create antedotes for such poisons. Here was a guy who told me that he dropped out of medical school, much to his parents dismay, to pursue this dream. Can you imagine the flack he got from people. But he held true to his passion. I'm so glad to see that Terry is still doing the same thing. He calls himself the true-life Indiana Jones and my Google search turned up a site for him. Check it out. http://www.fredeking.com/index.php

If you're not doing something you love, full-time, at least make an attempt to do something you love part-time. Trust me, it will pay off in ways that far exceed any monetary gain.

On the Tube

I love, and I mean I absolutely love, You Tube. It's one of the few services, on the Net, that I would pay for -- for a reasonable fee -- to use. From musical performances, to news clips, to historical videos, to lectures, to cartoons, to comedy routines, to instructional videos, to movie scenes, You Tube has it.

This first installment includeds links that show some of the real characters from the movie, "Cadillac." The movie was sensational, but watching the real people perform is out of this world.

I've also thrown in Big Momma Thorton, who sang "Hound Dog" before Elvis was even pup, as well as the legendary Jimi Hendrix playing the "Star Spangled Banner." It's a long video, yet Hendrix was truly an amazing man playing the guitar.

Enjoy!

Are You Overdue for An Upgrade?

I know I wasn't the first to say it, but I firmly believe it is true: The best time to look for a job is when you already have a job. Along with that, I'll add that you need to constantly add to your skill set and knowledge base. Those of you who have sat on interviewing panels and/or been interviewed, like I have, realize that potential employers not only want to know how long you've done something, they also want to know how well you can do things, like working on the computer with various programs, using phone systems, working with teams, conducting research, and more.

Admittidly, I haven't updated my resume in a few months -- I plan to do that before the weekend is out, and I recommend you do it every 3 to 6 months. However, I am constantly upgrading my knowledge-base by using my www.ILearningGlobal.biz/maximo3 membership and soaking up as much information as I can on personal success and copywriting, including books, tapes, CDs, magazines, articles, and online resources. Earl Nightingale said it, years ago, and it still holds true, "You are what you think about, all day long." How about this one I just made up. You are consumed by what you consume. If your day is spent just watching t.v., then that's what fills your head. Now I like television, too, but to a limit. What's even more important that the fact that you watch a lot of t.v. or surf the net for hours is what are you watching, listening to, and taking in. It does matter and it does impact your life.

I love to do things in 3s. Three is a critically important number to me. I was the third child of four, and I was born on the 3rd. Here are 3 things I recommend you do to begin a serious upgrade in your life.

The 3 Keys to an Upgrade

1. Write down 3 major things or goals you want to have or accomplish, by this time next year. You must be as specific as possible. For example, if you want a better paying job, don't just write, I want to have a job that pays more than what I make, now. Instead, write something like, I want have a job where I earn $75,000 a year.

2. Write down 3 promises you will make to yourself to achieve to achieve the goals. If you're serious, this will involve doing some things differently than you have been doing them.

3. Write down 3 benefits you will gain from achieving the set goals. These benefits should include how the results will make you a better person and how they will help others.

Keep this page or document where you wrote your 3 Keys to An Upgrade somewhere where you can easily access it and review it, daily. This will help reinforce it in your present thoughts and in your subconscious.

Tips: Make your major goals things that are out of your present reach but are realistically obtainable. For example, the dream of becoming a professional football player, that I had as a child and a teen, is not going to happen at my age ... even if I bought a team. :)

With your promises, don't write you will try. Write that you will do. Even if you just say it or write it to yourself, making a promise is taken much more seriously than saying you will try. Some believe saying I'll try is simply giving an excuse not to do something, ahead of time.

Put a lot of thought into how accomplishing your goals will benefit you and others. In my study of millionaires, at least the ones I respect, I was amazed to find out that almost all of them don't treasure their money as much as they treasure the good things their money enables them to do.

Lastly, don't stop having fun and don't be too hard on yourself. If you are in a rut or really want a major change in your life, keep in mind that you didn't get to where you are, overnight. So don't expect to achieve a major goal, overnight. It's okay to have setbacks and frustrations. To be successful, you must focus on overcoming those challenges and get back on track.

Have the best of success! I know you can do it.

Movie Magic

I love watching movies and I want to share with you what I've watched, recently, that you may be interesting in. My reviews will be different because I'm not a movie critic, just a movie lover.

In the theater, I saw "Taken." It's a movie that completly took me in when I saw the trailers. Lines from the main character:

"... what I do have is a particular set of skills. Skills that I used and developed over a long career. Skills, that make life hell for people like you."

If that got you going, you'll thoroughly enjoy the movie. It is action-packed and suspenseful. And it's not all shooting and fighting, either, although that's prevalent. There are some side plots that make the story even more interesting.

One of my favorite things about this movie is that the main character is a middle-aged guy who doesn't fit your typical James Bond-type lead. His calm demeanor truly fools you when you find out what he's capable of. Of course, the worst in him is the best in him, but that only comes out when he's on a mission. And he is totally focused on a mission to get his daughter back from kidnappers. But he's got other aims, too. If you want to find out the rest, check out the movie. When you watch those trailers, again, pay very close attention to what is said during the cell phone conversation between the main character and the guy you dont see.

In the theater, I also saw a movie called "Slumdog Millionaire," and it totally blew me away. It started out really weird because you don't know why this kid is in so much trouble. Trust me, stay with it and remember the questions, but don't miss any of it because as the movie goes along it will all make sense.

The movie is set in India and centers around a young man who gets an opportunity to be a contestant on India's version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"

From early childhood, the main character and his brotherr deal with the worst of circumstances. Doing things to survive is no cliche to them. During this time, Jamal (main character) meets the love of his life, Latika, and I do mean the true love of his life. From there, the adventures, wins and losses, and growth of the characters never stop. Ironically, what happens in life connects to the game show. How, you may ask? Well, you'll have to watch the movie to find out.

A word of warning. There are some pretty violent situations in the film and the movie is quite long. In no way is it boring, though.

"Slumdog Millionaire" is definitely one of the best and most engrossing films I've seen in years.

Invest in Yourself

Without exception, the most important investment you can make is an investment in yourself.

During these turbulent times, we are hearing so much doom and gloom but very little about things you can do to achieve more and be productive and happy. Hiding under a rock won't help. Pretending that the economy is great and that massive layoffs aren't ocurring won't help, either. What will help is making yourself your biggest asset. Remember, wherever you go and whatever you do, you take your knowledge, your skills, and your potential with you.

I have found an amazing way to increase your level of knowledge in areas that you choose. You'll be personally taught by experts in those fields. Some of them have more than 40 years of experience. Others have held executive positions in federal agencies, owned companies, earned millions of dollars, authored books, and spoken all over the world.

Does this sound too good to be true? Well, that's what I thought until I became involved. Want to hear something even more astonishing? You can also make money while you're learning, but that's a choice for you to make.

If you want to improve yourself, your life, your business, and make a real contribution to the world, check this out. I will warn you, if you're not into self-development and you don't believe that you have to take responsibility for making your life better, you won't be interested. But for those who have big dreams and major goals, and fully understand that if they are to be achieved, they will have to take action, this may be perfect for you.

Welcome!

My name is Michael E. Howard and I want to welcome you to my new blog, called Forward Thinking. I call it Forward Thinking because of how strongly I believe in the power of our mind and our thoughts. Our self-talk is the most important conversation we ever have.

I created this blog because I love learning, I love sharing infomation that will help others, and I love to write.

Going all the way back to my teenage years, and that was more than half my life back, I was told by so many family members, relatives, friends, and associates that I should get my writings published. This blog can help me move toward that goal.

This blog is written solely by me, but it is intended to serve all those who can gain from it. I certainly don't know it all, yet I do have a lot to offer.

Enjoy the blog and please feel free to comment.
